Kevin McSherry Illustration Oh, I know him! A valuable referral was dropped in my lap by a member of the Fitzwilliam Chapter of the BNI, Jonathan Bell of the Prosper Group. As is the way of word-of-mouth marketing, Jonathan and I were engaged in a 1:1 subsequent to a visit I made to his group, when I picked up a copy of the Professional Insurance Brokers Magazine - seeing that the cover featured a full page illustration. I drew Jonathan's attention to the cover and said 'I wonder who runs this publication?' which prompted him to say, brightly, 'Oh, I know him', followed by, 'I'll give him a call', which he did right there and then. This simple phone call and personal referral resulted in me getting one of the best and most important clients in my portfolio. You simply don't know what or who other people know, but as sure as eggs, if they've been around in business for long enough, they'll know a lot. The fact is, this referral alone made my BNI membership worthwhile. Who knows what you know?
